29th November - 2nd December 2017, 10:00am - 4:00pm, Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institution, Queen Square, Bath BA1 2HN
This is a three-way collaboration between myself (as poet-in-residence) and two fabulous artists, Liz Watts (sculpture and ceramics) and Susan Thomson (botanical watercolours).
I will be giving a two-set reading at a special reception at the venue on Friday, December 1st, from 4-6pm. This is a free event (and there's wine!), but numbers are limited, so please contact me direct for a ticket if you'd like to come!
During the week, I'll be writing poems in situ, in response to the artwork - and am also happy to work with anyone informally on their own written responses. Please contact me direct to check times when I'll be at the venue, if you are making a journey especially to do that!
A word or two about my collaborators:
Liz studied sculpture, ceramics and on-glaze painting in France. She works in porcelain, bronze and papier mache. Her work ranges from complicated structural challenges in porcelain to animal pieces given an interesting anatomical edge by her roots in veterinary medicine. In 2015, she was elected to The Society of Artists.
Susan trained as a graphic artist and studied botanical drawing and watercolour painting at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. She paints botanical work and birds in watercolour, and experiments with print, silk painting and acrylic to create freer works. Her work is in private collections in the UK, Ireland, the USA and Dubai.
The exhibition is open from November 29th to December 2nd from 10am - 4pm, and on December 4th, 10am-1pm.
