The Ruth Stone House Party, Poetry Swindon Festival

6th October 2016, 8:00pm - 10:00pm, The Sun Inn, Marlborough Road, Swindon SN3 6AA.

The Ruth Stone House Party is hosted by Chaucer Cameron & Helen Dewbery including the Swindon launch of Salt on the Wind: poems in response to Ruth Stone (with readings by Angela France, Carrie Etter, Hilda Sheehan, Dawn Gorman and others) plus short films including a poetry film by Helen Dewbery and Bianca Stone.
Chaucer Cameron's poems are lyrical and filled with elegant imagery, but they also carry an emotional intensity that confronts and discomforts the listener.
Helen Dewbery's film photography is a delight in itself, and her use of still and moving images is varied and consistently thought-provoking; but when the poems are combined with the visuals, the effect is even greater than the sum of its parts. If you think you don't like poetry, or if you love poetry and don't see the point of a poetry film,There is Nothing in the Garden will change your mind. D.D. Johnston.
