Wiltshire at War: Community Stories - Wiltshire Does its Bit exhibition

26th September 2015, 10:00am - 1:00pm, Mere Museum, Barton Lane, Mere, Wiltshire BA12 6JA

Wiltshire Does its Bit, the second in a series of exhibitions produced by Wiltshire at War: Community Stories, is on display at Mere Museum until November 7th 2015. Using archive images from the First World War, and telling the stories of some of Wiltshire's most memorable characters of the era, the exhibition paints a richly evocative picture of how ordinary people responded to the war effort across the county. The exhibition features two 'community poems' written by Dawn Gorman in collaboration with members of The Wednesday Group in Steeple Langford and Silver Threads in Purton. It also includes Dawn's own poem Lily, which was inspired by a photo of Frome munitionette Lily Withers.
